Grant Concept Paper Guidelines:

Purpose: Prior to developing a full application for a grant, a concept paper can be submitted for review and feedback.  This provides an organization with the opportunity to define and refine their thinking about a project or activity and provides the Program review team with an opportunity to examine the concepts and determine how well it aligns with key objectives and goals.  A concept paper should be short – not more the 3 to 4 pages.  Ideas should be clear, concise, to the point and provide an overview of what is planned, who will benefit, the results expected and a notional estimate of the proposed budget linked to the components of the activities planned.  Below is a suggested outline to assure that the key points have been covered.  This summary will be a part of the grant should we proceed.

Executive summary/ Abstract of proposed activity (1-2 paragraphs maximum):

A.    One line description of the Activity

B.    Succinct statement of  the objectives of the Activity and why the Activity is needed

C.    Statement of how the Activity aligns with the Program’s objectives:

a.    Increased Jobs for Jordanians

b.    Enhanced Competitiveness of Jordanian Businesses

D.   Activity’s stakeholders and beneficiaries

E.    Activity’s anticipated results (e.g., impact on beneficiaries)

F.    Location of Activity

G.   Timeframe for Activity

H.    Description of community outreach plan for Activity

Background  (5 paragraphs maximum)

A.    Brief  background on your organization

B.    Issues to be addressed by the Activity

C.    Relation of the Activity to your organization

D.   Number of people to directly and indirectly benefit from the Activity

E.    Expected results, impacts and benefits of the Activity
